Sugar Grove Fire District is proud to offer the nationally recognized Safe Sitter® program — a fun, hands-on class designed to give kids ages 11 and up the real-world skills and confidence they need to be safe, responsible caregivers.
Whether they’re watching younger siblings or ready to start earning money babysitting in the neighborhood, Safe Sitter is the perfect first step!
What Is Safe Sitter®?
Safe Sitter® is a medically accurate, nationally recognized program that has been preparing young people for babysitting since 1980. Students learn life-saving skills alongside practical childcare techniques — all in a fun, engaging classroom setting led by trained instructors.
What Will My Child Learn?
✅ How to handle emergencies calmly and confidently
✅ Basic first aid and rescue breathing
✅ How to prevent accidents before they happen
✅ Age-appropriate activities to keep kids happy and engaged
✅ What to do if a child is choking, hurt, or sick
✅ How to stay safe while home alone or babysitting
What Makes Our Class Special?
At Sugar Grove Fire District, we believe learning should be fun! Our Safe Sitter classes include hands-on activities and crafts that give students useful tools they can take with them on every babysitting job. Students leave not just with knowledge — but with real, ready-to-use supplies they made themselves! Plus they will walk away with a CPR certification as well!
