SGFD holds a number of Public Education opportunities for the community and is always looking for suggestions and feedback.
Included in those opportunities are CPR Instruction classes.
We are a remote site for the American Heart Association's CTC located at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. Depending on your needs, we offer a "Friends & Family" instruction, which teaches you how to Rescue Breathe, perform CPR, and remove a foreign body obstruction from a victims airway. In this class you learn the techniques but are not required to take a test, and therefore you are not provided a "CPR Card". However, we also off a HealthCare Providers class that covers all of the above in more technical detail, including how to use a Bag Valve Mask and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). In order to offer the class, a 5 person minimum is required. So if you have a group of people that would like to learn CPR, or you as an individual would like to, give us a call or drop us an email . Heartsaver - Adult/Child/Infant w/AED classes are scheduled on the second Saturday of every other month, with a break during the summer. However, if you have a large group, we can also put together a special offering for you - whether it be for recertification, Healthcare Provider's card, or a Friends and Family offering... just give us a call to determine a schedule.
